PRESCRIPTION: LOCAL COFFEE
QTY: 1
REFILLED ON: MARCH 2024
TAKE AS NEEDED
MUST BE TAKEN WITH A SENSE OF ADVENTURE
Get to know the local coffee scene in Durham! The Dose of Durham coffee edition features a healthy prescription of caffeine, including a bike-friendly guide to local coffee shops. This prescription also featured a special community initiative called the Bike Coffee Passport, where 70+ cyclists rode their bikes 1,153 miles, over the course of a month, to participating coffee shops to collect stamps on their passports to be entered into a raffle for over $450 worth of coffee prizes donated by local shops.
The bike coffee passport was a physical (dis)loyalty card for cyclist to collect stamps on by riding to different shops and presenting their helmet to the barista when they ordered a drink at participating shops. All shops featured on the passport donated coffee beans, merch, or brewing tools to the prize drawing and were included in Dose of Durham's bike-friendly coffee guide. Each coffee shop received 100 bike coffee passports to give away at their shop and a handmade linocut stamp to stamp passports with. It was free for riders to participate, and every coffee shop they rode their bike to counted for a chance to win a prize - completing the passport gave participants double the odds of winning. BIKE COFFEE TOUR
The bike coffee tour kicked-off the beginning of the month-long coffee passport and drew over 70 riders to explore Durham's coffee shops. Every week on Friday morning, riders gathered to collect more stamps on their passport throughout the duration of the passport.
